Children

Christ Church welcomes children as vital members of our community! During the 9:30 AM Sunday service, children have the option to stay with their families or come a bit earlier for Sunday school. Sunday school runs from 9:15-10:05 AM, when children rejoin families for the Holy Eucharist. Books, fidget toys, and children’s bulletins are available at the back of the sanctuary.

If you’re looking for other ways to connect with the Christ Church community, check out the variety of options below!

Sunday School: Explorers (3K-1st)

Explorers meet at 9:15 AM in Room 12 to hear a chapter from the Jesus Storybook Bible, sing songs, and explore faith and friendship further through Bible-themed toys and free play.

Sunday School: Storymakers (2nd-5th)

Storymakers meet at 9:15 AM in the Youth Room to act out Bible stories and respond creatively using the StoryMakers NYC curriculum.

To locate the classrooms, go down the stairs between the elevator and the Great Hall, take a right, and follow the hallway to the end. Please sign your child in at drop off and, if this is your child’s first day, provide your contact information. Children will be returned to their parents in the sanctuary before the Holy Eucharist.

Contact our Sunday School Coordinator Julie Davis with any questions.

Handing Down the Faith Sundays

On the first Sunday of the month, Sunday school will be canceled so that children can attend the 9:30 AM service with their families. Using a mix of hands-on liturgical experiences, resources in the pew, and parental support, children will learn firsthand how and why the liturgy unfolds as it does. Additional post-service “show and tells” are in the works to get children familiarized with the objects and people behind the scenes of every liturgy.

Making Friends

There are many different opportunities for intergenerational relationships to form! We celebrate major feasts with food, fun, and friends. At the end of the month, families gather to share a potluck meal. We partner with the ministries at All People’s Church to provide shelf-stable food, serve meals at the Harambee Kitchen, and grow herbs for their garden.

To stay in the loop, access our children’s formation calendar or email Bailey Steger, our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, to be added to the children’s ministry email newsletter.
